Microsoft cuts 5% of UK workforce

(By Richard Holway 8.00am 6th May 09) Microsoft is to cut 150 jobs - c5% of its 2900 UK workforce - according to a report in today's Guardian. This is more than double the number anticipated in January.

As we reported on 24th April, in Q1 2009 Microsoft reported its first revenue decline in 23 years. Although Steve Ballmer might describe today's economic climate as "a once-in-a-lifetime set of economic conditions", I think that Microsoft's world is changing fast; providing more problems to Microsoft when the economy recovers than they might imagine.
