Minorplanet hit by SME client credit squeeze
(By Anthony Miller – Wednesday, 8th April 2009 7:45am). A salient reminder from vehicle tracking and fleet management software company, Minorplanet, that if there are indeed any ‘green shoots of recovery’ out there, they have yet to poke through the still barren earth in the transportation sector. In today’s profit warning (see here) CEO Terry Donovan reported that a 169% increase in corporate sales “has been more than offset by a marked downturn in revenues from SME businesses, particularly in the UK (due to) the restricted availability of lease finance for Minorplanet's customers in this sector”. Minorplanet got half of its £23m revenues from the UK market last year. If your customers can’t get the finance to run their core business, what chance have they got to invest in IT?
