Torex appoints new CFO and looks to 2010 IPO
(By Anthony Miller – Monday, 20th April 2009 8:00am). In an article in today’s FT (see here) retail software firm Torex’s new CEO, Steve Rowley (ex-Anite – see Steve Rowley to join Torex) mooted a series of acquisitions over the next 18 months possibly culminating in an IPO. On Friday, Rowley announced the appointment of ex-Detica CFO, Mandy Gradden, into a similar post at Torex. Long-time followers of our commentary will recall the rich and colourful history of Torex’s rise from tool hire company to retail and healthcare ‘giant’ ... and how it all went horribly wrong. Torex was acquired by US private equity firm Cerberus back in 2007, though prior management still have a Serious Fraud Office inquiry hanging over their heads. You certainly can’t fault Rowley on his bravura!
