Music for free - Nokia prices and lineup

(By Richard Holway 5.00pm Wednesday 2nd sept 09) Just to follow up on my post last week - Convergence as Nokia launches a netbook - Nokia has set the price at £500. Although it will be free when bundled with some carrier's data plans. It's a great spec for a netbook but twice as expensive as, say, the Acer Aspire One that I have.

Nokia also announced a line up of new phones. The X3 and X6 'iPhone killers' will come with free unlimited music downloads for a year which you can store on the X6's 32gb memory. The X3 costs c£100 which is about what you would pay Spotify for the music bit alone (ie without the phone!) Nokia said iPhone users would have to shell out about £800 to download the top 100 albums, "whereas X6 buyers could get all the music for free".

The N97 mini "Blackberry killer' costs about £400. Again free on various plans. I rather like the look of it. See photo. Nice keyboard and screen. But it's a bit too bulky for me and my pocket.
