We didn’t get Paul and Ringo but we did get Steve.

(By Richard Holway 9.00pm Wednesday 9th Sept 09) Well, we didn’t get Paul and Ringo (see my 6th Sept 09 post - It's only rock and Roll, but we like it) but we did get Steve. Looking somewhat gaunt, Jobs admitted to the liver transplant that saved his life five months ago and then went on to announce a whole new family of Apple iPods.

The truly wonderful iPod Touch is now the centre of the iPod family. They have now sold 30m of the things! With the 20m iPhones, that’s 50m such Apple touch screen gizmos out there capable of downloading Apple Apps. Apple have reduced the entry level price to $199 in the US and added a 64gb model. Apple nanos now have video cameras, speakers and fm radios and will cost just $149. And there is a 164gb iPod classic (is there really anyone with 40,000 music tracks in their library?)

Apple also announce a new iTunes LP – in an effort to revive the album market.

All very welcome additions to the range. We’ll just have to wait a bit longer for the iTablet (not that anyone expected that today)
Note - I have been an Apple shareholder almost since the word dot. Haven't I done well too! Doubled this YTD making them yet again, the best performer in my portfolio.
