Alterian is jumping on the social media bandwagon by purchasing a small New York-based software company,
Techrigy Inc., which specialises in social media monitoring and analytics. The deal is worth up to $5m, dependent on performance. Alterian says the acquisition will be earnings enhancing from the first year. Alterian’s primary markets – marketing departments of medium and large enterprises –are desperate to better understand and leverage social networks as a marketing channel. Offering social media monitoring and analytics in its ‘marketing platform’ suite will tick one of those buyers’ hottest boxes.
Looks like a very smart move to us.
